Chocolate Avocado Skin Booster Smoothie

A rich, chocolatey, creamy delicious smoothie that is full of good plant-based fats and proteins, omega-3s, and phytonutrients. All of which promotes beautiful, glowing skin.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened nut or plant milk (almond, coconut, hemp, cashew)
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • 1 fresh or frozen medium banana
  • ½ medium avocado
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or a mix)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cacao or cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons cacao nibs (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons hulled hemp seeds
  • 2 teaspoons maca powder
  • 23 Medjool dates (pitted)
  • Small pinch of sea salt
  • Ice
  • optional: 2 teaspoons spirulina powder

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until super smooth. Add about a cup of ice at the end once the ingredients are blended together.
  2. If you want a thinner consistency add more water, for a thicker, more pudding like consistency, use half cup of water instead of a full cup.

Notes

If dates are too hard to easily blend, soften them in warm water for a few minutes, drain the water, and add to the blender.
If you have spirulina, add it to the smoothie. I often do, and it’s a superfood antioxidant powerhouse. The flavor can be a little intense sometimes, but in this smoothie all you taste is the chocolate, banana, date, berry combo.
